Greetings

First of all, thank you for visiting my page! My name is Chiara Kelly and I currently write contemporary women’s fiction novels depicting life as I see it, or want to see it, through the eyes of my readers.

I recently published my first novel, The Lady Leathernecks, based in part on my own experience as a female Marine or “Lady Leatherneck.” My book basically depicts the unique experiences of four young women from drastically different backgrounds–shy college girl, truck stop diner waitress/prostitute, Korean-American athletically-inclined linguist, self-punishing Palm Beach hotel heiress–in their quest to find themselves through patriotic service in the Corps, and who end up getting more than they bargained for. Although not all Leathernecks in this book–or in reality–join up for strictly patriotic reasons, most come out undeniably changed for the wiser, as has been my experience. The Lady Leathernecks also touches upon other issues correlated with military service, including the challenges of soldier motherhood, workplace bullying, suicide and human trafficking, well worth reckoning. If you are curious about the plight of female soldiers, are currently serving or considering joining the Marines, this book is definitely for you!

I am also currently working on a second novel titled, The Solitaire Diaries, about a Marine wife and gemologist who channels her hopes for her sons’ futures into her diamond cutting craft, to be released later this year. I will soon post an excerpt. More details to come.

Check out my book  The Lady Leathernecks today! Feedback would be most appreciated. Until next time…..
